Archery

Cudgel War archery activities are organized mostly by Lord Rakonczay, Archery Captain of Aarnimetsä. If you have any archery-related questions, he will be happy to answer.

An archery range will be set up during the first Saturday. It will be available for the full duration of the camp. The range will allow for at least two different shooting distances, most probably three.

On the first Saturday there will also be the first archery practice session. It should begin at 3 p.m. (15:00).

An archery duel competition will be held on Sunday, starting at noon (12 p.m. / 12:00). The idea is adapted from Wild West duels. Shooting will be done in pairs. At the marshal's sign, duelists start advancing towards their targets, bows ready. At the second sign, they may start shooting. (So the archers are effectively pretending to be "approaching each other".) The one who first hits their target, wins.

Archery teaching begins on Monday. The rules for the Unicorn Wreath Challenge are also explained on Monday, and from that point on, one may start shooting and accumulating their score for the challenge.

On Tuesday, a short trip to the neighboring municipality, Siuntio, will be arranged. There one can practice field archery (forest archery / "open terrain" archery), starting at 3 p.m. (15:00).

We are planning to hold a Clout Challenge on Wednesday. Time and other details will be confirmed if we can find a suitable shooting range for the challenge.

Aarnimetsä One Hour Challenge will be shot on Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (18:30-21:00). If you are planning to participate, please contact lord Rakonczay and sign up on Sunday 24th at the latest.

Archery practice will be held every day, except for those days when some challenge or competition is held instead. Lord Rakonczay will also give personal archery lessons throughout the week.

We will also try to arrange a possibility for new archery marshals to be authorized.
